2021 Mazda CX-5 vs. 2021 Nissan Rogue: Advanced Handling and Technologies
February 19 2021,
The Mazda CX-5 is known for its superior styling features, advanced technologies and luxury-like interior commodities that position this compact SUV at the forefront of the segment. Many rivals try to emulate these personality traits that make the CX-5 unique, but Mazda is always coming up with new ways to stay ahead. The 2021 edition of the CX-5 is still more powerful, comfortable and technologically advanced than its rivals.
Here, we illustrate this by comparing the 2021 Mazda CX-5 with the 2021 Nissan Rogue.
More horsepower and torque in the 2021 Mazda CX-5
The 2021 Mazda CX-5 takes power and performance seriously. It offers a pair of powerplants that provide plenty of zip under the pedal. Four CX-5 trims use a precisely engineered Skyactiv-G 2.5 L four-cylinder unit that outputs 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission manual-shift mode and Drive Selection switch.
By comparison, the Nissan Rogue uses a less powerful naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine which only provides 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a less engaging continuously variable transmission (CVT), and is the only powertrain available throughout the lineup.
The Mazda CX-5 pushes things further with the Signature and 100th Anniversary trims (and optionally on the GT variant) with Mazda’s Skyactiv-G 2.5 Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine that can provide up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. This engine also comes with the quick-shifting 6-speed automatic gearbox with manual-shift mode and Drive Selection switch but it adds paddle shifters for enhanced driving dynamics.
The 2021 Mazda CX-5 has a more capability
The CX-5 comes standard with G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) and is available with the i-Activ all-wheel-drive system, which is a much more evolved system than that of the Nissan Rogue. The CX-5 can also tow up to 2,000 lb of anything you want to bring along on your journey. The Nissan Rogue is maxed out at 1,350 lb.
Mazda’s SUV also provides more legroom to its passengers sitting in the rear, all in a more refined interior that uses upscale textures, materials and technologies that go beyond what the Rogue offers in its lineup.
