Mazda ranks number one in Consumer Report’s reliability study
December 09 2020,
Mazda was named the most reliable car brand by Consumer Reports, one of the most respected publications in the world.
It was a surprising result for the industry, although anyone who has ever owned a Mazda won’t be shocked that the automaker stood out in the reliability department. Mazda vehicles outclassed Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Nissan and every other automaker including luxury brands Lexus and Acura to take the top spot in CR’s reliability study.
The publication used a predicted reliability score to rank each automaker, taking the average of the scores of each model in the lineup and then putting the score out of 100. Mazda finished with an impressive 86 out of 100, a considerable margin over second place Toyota. The average for the industry was between 41 and 60 out of 100.
More interestingly, Mazda’s young lineup of vehicles didn’t seem to suffer from their advanced technology such as G-Vectoring Control, i-ACTIVESENSE, i-ACTIV all-wheel drive, and SKYACTIV. Often vehicles with advanced technology tend to do poorly in reliability rankings, but it was quite the opposite for Mazda.
The fact that Mazda has redesigned the entirety of its lineup in recent years and introduced new models like the Mazda CX-30 didn’t hurt reliability either as is often the case.
Ultimately, this ranking by a proven and unbiased publication means buyers can have confidence in their Mazda and their purchase when they leave Guelph City Mazda. Contact us today to learn more!
