Mazda's 2024 CX-5: A Detailed Look at Pricing and Packaging

An in-depth analysis of Mazda's best-selling vehicle in Canada, its features, and its pricing strategy

Mazda Canada has lifted the veil on the pricing and packaging of the 2024 CX-5, the top-seller in their Canadian lineup. With a starting MSRP of $32,250, the 2024 model is set to reach Mazda dealerships nationwide later this summer. It's essential to note, however, that the aforementioned MSRP does not account for $2,095 for freight & PDE, taxes, title, or additional fees.

The 2024 CX-5 is launching in a variety of eight configurations, ensuring every customer can find a suitable match for their needs. Each variant combines technology, safety, and the revered Mazda driving dynamics, solidifying its appeal.

A notable inclusion in the 2024 CX-5 is the Suna Edition. Opting for this edition allows customers to enjoy an exclusive Zircon Sand Metallic exterior paint, adding a layer of elegance to the vehicle. This new paint option further accentuates Mazda's Kodo design, which plays a pivotal role in the car's aesthetic appeal.

The Suna Edition isn't just about aesthetics; it's also about performance. The vehicle is powered by a Skyactiv-G 2.5T turbocharged engine. For those craving power, the engine can generate 256 horsepower and a torque of 310 lb-ft with premium octane fuel. If one chooses to use regular 87 octane fuel, the engine still delivers an impressive 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.

It's worth highlighting that Mazda has made strides in fuel efficiency. Specifically, the CX-5 2.5L models have shown an improved NRCan estimated combined fuel economy by 0.5 L/100km. This, combined with Mazda's standard i-ACTIV all-wheel drive in Canada, ensures that the CX-5 remains a practical choice for many.

Mazda is no stranger to accolades and recognition. The CX-5 bagged the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK in 2023 and was the pioneer in receiving a Good rating in IIHS's rigorous side impact test. It's reassuring to know that Mazda has retained all the award-winning engineering and safety features in the 2024 model. These features range from Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go to Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring and much more.

While the features and accolades are undoubtedly commendable, the convenience offered by Mazda is also noteworthy. Each CX-5 comes with complimentary Mazda Connected Services for two years, allowing owners to monitor their vehicle's status via the MyMazda app. Further bolstering the tech credentials is the 10.25" centre display which now has touchscreen capabilities when paired with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With a myriad of features, configurations, and safety accolades, the 2024 Mazda CX-5 appears ready to retain its crown as Mazda's best-selling vehicle in Canada.
