Sophisticated Design Meets Off-Road Performance Across Multiple Trim Levels
Mazda Canada Inc. has released the pricing and packaging details for the 2024 Mazda CX-50. Designed with active North American lifestyles in mind, the CX-50 crossover SUV will be available at Mazda retailers across the country starting with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $39,300. For those interested in a turbocharged model, prices commence at $46,750.
A notable feature of the CX-50 is its versatility in powertrain options. The vehicle comes with two choices: a Skyactiv-G 2.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with Cylinder Deactivation, producing 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, or a Skyactiv-G 2.5L turbocharged engine equipped with Mazda’s i-stop technology. The latter engine variant offers 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium 93 octane gas or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on regular 87 octane. Both engines are paired with a Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission, featuring standard i-Activ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology and Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive).
Standard drive modes, which include Sport and Off-road, allow the CX-50 to adapt to a myriad of driving conditions, from off-road trails to snowy terrains. Selected models even offer a Tow Mode that aids in towing up to 1,588 kg (3,500 lbs).
Starting at the entry level, the CX-50 GS-L boasts an impressive list of standard features, both in safety and convenience. The standard package includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch centre console display, LED interior lighting, and a Mazda Harmonic Acoustics audio system with 8-speakers. Additionally, it comes with i-Activsense safety features such as Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Mazda Radar Cruise Control among others.
Stepping up, the CX-50 GT brings 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system. Further safety technology upgrades include a windshield-projected Active Driving Display and 360° View Monitor. The GT Turbo variant adds even more performance with its Skyactiv-G 2.5L turbocharged engine, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and increased towing capacity.
For the adventurous souls, the CX-50 Turbo Meridian Edition offers 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires and outdoor-specific accessories. An Apex Package upgrade is also available, providing roof-mounted black crossbars, a roof platform, and both front and rear splash guards for those who wish to bring along additional equipment for their outdoor expeditions.
It's essential to note that the MSRP does not include $1,950 for freight & PDE, taxes, title, or additional fees, and that retailers will set the actual sale prices. Also, Mazda Connected Services will be available for a two-year trial period, after which annual subscription fees will apply.
With its range of models, features, and pricing, the 2024 Mazda CX-50 is a compelling choice for consumers in the increasingly crowded crossover SUV market.
