Unveiling 2024: A Close Look at the Updated Mazda3 and Mazda3 Sport Models

Mazda Canada Inc. launches into 2024 with its updated Mazda3 and Mazda3 Sport models, showcasing engaging driving dynamics and a sophisticated design. Compact car lovers can look forward to the arrival of Mazda3 Sport models at dealerships this summer, while the Mazda3 sedan models will be available in the fall.
An important enhancement for the 2024 Mazda3 is the upgraded Skyactiv-G 2.5L engine, replacing the previous 2.0L engine. This new powerplant boasts 191 horsepower and a notable 186 lb-ft of torque on either 87 or 93 octane fuel. With a 44 horsepower increase and improved fuel efficiency, it offers a compelling blend of power and economy. Furthermore, Mazda's cylinder-deactivation technology has been optimized, resulting in an impressive NRCan rated efficiency of 8.4 L/100km in the city, 6.3 L/100km on the highway, and an overall 7.5 L/100km.
Seven unique packaging options for the Mazda3 sedan and nine for the Mazda3 Sport hatchback give buyers the flexibility to customize their Mazda3 to their lifestyle and driving preferences. With standard front-wheel drive (FWD) and available i-Activ all-wheel drive (AWD) in select models, Mazda ensures a tailored experience for each owner.
Even at the base level, Mazda3 and Mazda3 Sport GX models are packed with features. They are equipped with the efficient Skyactiv-G 2.5L engine, paired with a smooth-shifting Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift mode and Drive Selection switch, FWD, and G-Vectoring Control Plus. Safety is prioritized with Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and updated Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) for enhanced night-time performance.
The Mazda3’s interior is stylishly crafted, featuring an 8.8-inch centre display with Mazda Connect infotainment system, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more. The exterior boasts LED lighting and 16-inch silver finish aluminum alloy wheels.
Moving up the ladder, the GS model adds Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop&Go, Smart City Brake Support Front, and other safety features. Mazda3 and Mazda3 Sport GS models also offer a Skyactiv-G 2.5L engine on FWD trims. The optional GS Luxury Package includes a 10.25-inch infotainment display and leatherette trimmed upholstery.
The Mazda3 and Mazda3 Sport GT models offer the Bose 12-speaker premium audio, full-colour windshield-projected Active Driving Display, and 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels. Additional safety features are incorporated, with Rear Direction Base Safety and Traffic Jam Assist, among others. GT models also offer wireless phone charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
Enthusiast drivers will be drawn to the Mazda3 Sport GT with the Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual transmission. The turbocharged Mazda3 GT Turbo models feature a Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine, delivering up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.
The 2024 model year introduces the Mazda3 Sport Suna Edition with a striking Zircon Sand Metallic exterior colour, 18-inch black metallic finish wheels, and a black interior with Terracotta stitching. This model offers a unique aesthetic, combining refined performance with bespoke exterior styling.
